HARTLEY & YVONNE'S VACATION HISTORY

VACATIONS

I would like to document all our vacation trips here to remind us that we NEED more vacation trips! We got Zeus the Cat on June 10, 1998 (Born October 5, 1997) and Maxxie the Papillon on February 28, 1999 (Born April 27, 1998) .. It makes sense why vacations are dwindling. We also got Sophie the Papillon on September 7, 2002 (Born July 20, 2002). Here are our vacations in reverse order!

VACATIONS FOR LIFE

August 28, 2004 - pending.

"SUMMER 2004"

August 1, 2004 to August 16, 2004 - Instead of a vacation, Yvonne took this time to redecorate, paint, and redesign our Master Bedroom .. Looks Great Yvonne! (But, we still need a vacation from our vacation)

"THE OTTAWA WEDDING #1" TRIP

June 26, 2003 to June 30, 2003 - Yvonne, Hart and Herbert (Yvonne's dad) flew together to Ottawa, Ontario to attend Stephen Smith & Christine Chambers' wedding at Saunders Farm, in Munster Ontario. We stayed at the Algonquin College Residence, went site seeing to Parliament building and took an amphibus tour, and basically walked around downtown and toured the markets! We also visited Yvonne's relatives and had a splendid time! Hart was impressed with the Transit system and Yvonne really impressed with the beauty of Ottawa!

*** I am currently scanning pictures of both our 'tourist' pictures and Steve & Christine's wedding..

"OUR HONEYMOON" TRIP

September 4, 2002 to September 7, 2002 - We just got married on Saturday August 31, 2002, but we had to wait to return stuff, equipment rentals, unused alcohol, and costumes on the following tuesday, as Monday was a holiday. On that day as well, we signed a 4-year lease on a new 2002 Honda Civic LX. We registered it and picked it up on Wednesday at noon and drove out to Falcon Lake Resort Hotel in the Whiteshell for a few days in the "Couples Room", including Hot Tub! it was nice, the hotel had a restaurant, we walked, had time together, played on the waterslide, drove out to HART's old cottage at Jessica Lake, visited West Hawk Lake, and then it was time to go.

"HEMET" TRIP

December 21, 2001 to January 21, 2002 - This was a major trip for us, in asmuch neither of us had ever taken off such a big block of time for a vacation. We drove from Winnipeg to Hemet California, with Maxxie, where Hartley's parents have a trailer there and spend 3-4 months each winter there. This is how we drove 3,735.5km in three days:

Leave each day at about 5:30am and drive until it gets dark...
Winnipeg, MB - Grand Forks, ND - Sioux Falls, SD - Lincoln, NB (Day 1)
Lincoln, NB - Salinas, KS - Albuquerque, NM (Day 2)
Albuquerque, NM - Flagstaff, AZ - Phoenix, AZ - Hemet, CA (Day 3)
Arrived in Hemet, California at 5:30pm

We were tourists and shopped a lot. Of all the things and places we went to .. here they are:

Cabazol Complex, Coco's, Hadley's, Soboda Casino, Factory Outlet Stores in Temeculah, SouPlantation, San Diego Wild Animal Park, Mimi's Cafe, Palm Springs' Farmers' Fair "Flea Market", Marriot Hotel Palm Desert, Hemet Chinese Buffet Restaurant, Swimming at the clubhouses in the trailer park in Hemet, New Year's Eve on $4.00 USD, Santa Monica and Farmer's Market, Visiting HART's cousin Ellyn in Santa Monica, Disneyland, Universal Studios, Venice Beach, Santa Monica Beach, saw movie at the Promenade, Hiking trip in a provincial Park, Pacific Palasade and ate at Mort's Deli, Casa Del Mar Hotel and $10USD drink, (PS: Hotel rooms were $595usd a night, facing the beach), Roller Blading along Santa Monica Boulevard and Pier, Walking all day down Venice Beach, World Cafe, Getty Center Museum, Looking for a closer look and pic of the Hollywood Sign, Sand Diego and Old Town Trolley Tour, 2-hour Harbour Cruise, Fish Market, Idyllwild, Stopped in the washrooms of the San Luis Obispo's Madonna Inn (it's a waterfall - neat), Salina and tried saving a stray dog, San Fransisco and Pier 39, Eureka, Bandon and driving up the Pacific Coast Highway waaaaay past darkness in winding roads, Lincoln City Oregon, SNOW storm leaving Spokane Washington about 3 inches, to Sandpoint - through Canada at Kingsgate, B.C., Swift Current, Speeding ticket outside REGINA - (118km in 100km on Trans Canada Highway) - back home to WinTERpeg, Manitoba!

"MOUNT RUSHMORE" TRIP

May 15, 1998 to May 19, 1998 - We should have spent more time in South Dakota. It's about a two day driving trip one way and we still managed to see Mount Rushmore, and other mountains, hiking trails and the Black Hills. We enjoyed the scenery, but it was a lot of driving and I felt we could have spent more time as a tourist.

"SHOOTING STAR CASINO" TRIP

May 17, 1997 to May 19, 1997 - We drove south of the Canadian Border into Mahnomen, Minnesota USA to stay at the Shooting Star Casino and Hotel. It's about a 4 hour drive from Winnipeg. It's really a nice quaint hotel and entertainment center out in the middle of nowhere, on an Indian Reserve. I believe we made some spending money on the trip and detoured around to Fargo, North Dakota and Grand Forks before heading up back to Winnipeg.
